Hi everyone,
There is a new page on Dale's website, http://buffinthestixslayer.com

It is called, 'Ornery Mecmor' (Memory Corner), and it is where where people can write about any times that they met Dale or anything else they want to share memory-wise re MTH, Mott or British Lions

http://buffinthestixslayer.com/ornerymecmor.php

With Mottober 2009 rapidly approaching its 1st anniversary, I think this is a great opportunity to share your memories online with Dale and Jean and other assorted Hooplers, Friends, Fiends and Relatives. 8)

Keep Hooplin',

Hello all,

Just noticed this excerpt in a review of Ken Garner's "Peel Sessions" book:

(Jarvis Cocker writing about his first Peel Session): 'We travelled down to Maida Vale in a van driven by a very strange man we'd contacted via a card pinned to the Virgin record shop noticeboard. We'd had to borrow lots of equipment from a band called The Naughtiest Girl Was a Monitor 'cause we didn't have enough stuff of our own. The session was to be produced by Dale Griffin, who used to be the drummer in Mott the Hoople; I seem to remember that he was wearing cowboy boots. I think the crisis point came when Wayne was attempting to get a home-made synth-drum to work that a friend of his at school had made out of a rubber burglar-alarm mat and an old electronic calculator - Dale Griffin looked at this 15-year-old kid crouching on the floor bashing what looked like a doormat with some wires coming out of it and just put his head in his hands. But to his credit, the session did get finished and after it, everything else started for me...'

Thanks for posting the 'Peel Sessions' book excerpt, Justin. I've 'nicked' it for Buff's site, and credited you accordingly. :-)

It's a shame (but perfectly understandable, of course) that there have been no new blog posts since 2010. But I wonder how many people have taken the time to check out the "Fiends of Buffin" section where fans can leave personal message on Buffin's guestbook. It's full of memories -- first MtH concerts, people who knew Dale in school, ex-collaborators.

I don't know if "Fiends" was a typo and it was supposed to be "Friends" but it's brilliant!

Not a typo: 'Fiends' instead of 'Friends' was Dale's idea. 8)

There are other pages as well on the website where friends, fiends and relatives can share memories and photos: Ornery Mecmor (Memory Corner) and Mottober 2009, which is devoted to the MTH reunion.
