That's OK, they're Oirish so C/R will have it taped.
I'm sure he'll send you a copy, along with volumes I-MCXIV on how not to pay council tax.

 Re: What are you watching
Just watched Mark Bosch playing with Garland Jeffreys on the Andrew Marr Show (BBC 1). Excellent song entitled "Coney Island Winter". Contains the line:
"Politicians can kiss my ass".
Funny and powerful as the British politicians Vince Cable and Ed Balls were watching in the studio having just been interviewed by Andrew Marr.
David.

 Re: What are you watching
For a few message boarders who I know are fans.
Got home from work tonight and switched on the TV to watch 'Rockwiz', a great music trivia show that has been running in Australia on SBS for a few years now.
Half way through tonight's episode a question came up for which the answer was 'Make Me Smile' by Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel. And then Julia Zemiro the presenter announces here is Steve Harley live to sing that song and out he comes and performs a great version with the house band and three backing singers. The episode was filmed live at The Esplanade Hotel in Melbourne a few months ago so all I can assume is that he was over in Australia on holiday or some other business because he wasn't touring. But he did say he was coming back to Australia next year to perform some live shows for the first time in this country.
I am sure it will turn up on You Tube in the next few days.

 Re: What are you watching
The 'Lennon NYC' feature length documentary on Blu-Ray.
An interesting documentary and well worth watching. Concentrates on Lennon's life in New York after the Beatles split-up through to his death. Lots of interviews with various friends, fellow musicians etc. Certainly doesn't gloss over his excesses, especially during his extended 'lost weekend' in Los Angeles.
I already knew the gist of most of what was covered but it certainly gave you a bit more detail and personal perspectives from the people who were there. One interesting fact was that he finally won his long protracted immigration case, celebrated his birthday and the birth of his son, Sean, all within twenty-four hours of each other. His friends said that day he looked the happiest they had ever seen him.
A very poignant moment was listening to a tape of a very young Sean singing 'Do you need anybody, I just want someone to love" from 'With A Little Help From My Friends' while playing with John. And mainly in the extras section the accounts from his friends on where they were when he died and how they found out.
The other thing that struck me was that from Imagine to Walls And Bridges was only about three or four years, and from then until his 'come back' was only about five years. At the time and even looking back it seemed to be a lot longer than that.

 Re: What are you watching
In the sixties it was a single every 3 months and 2 albums a year. This extended a bit towards the end of that era, but nowadays 3 to 5 years seems to be the more acceptable waiting time. Of course it usually takes Ian about 2 years to actually get a disc out after it is all recorded G

 Re: What are you watching
For the new one it is a turnaround time of less than just eight months - maybe a new record .

 Re: What are you watching
Wheels, I remember Ian Hunter picking his top ten songs a few years ago and Cindy Lauper was in there, not my fault your record collection is full of silent movie soundtracks. Watch the show and you will change your opinion, now get back in training for the new season.

 Re: What are you watching
in the middle of watching Muddy Waters & the Stones from 1981. I have just paused to go onto the computer a while, at the point just before Mick and the others come onto stage. Muddy had a certain way with his slide guitar that no-one else really matched.
....and yes it is the double disc (one dvd and one CD) although the sticker suggests that they might not all be like that.
Thanks for the tip off Rick!

 Re: What are you watching
No worries Hookway. Glad you enjoyed it. Rockwiz is a great show and has been running for a few years now. It is pre-taped in a live setting at The Esplanade Hotel in St. Kilda, Melbourne. The format is as follows. Four contestants from the live audience compete for spots on the show before filming starts. They are divided into two teams of two members each. Then two surprise guest artists (local or international) eventually come out and sing one of their own songs each. They have the quiz part of the show then the show closes with the two artists singing a duet covering someone else's song. There have been some classic duets over the years. The house band is made up of some of Australia's top rock musicians - Peter Luscombe on drums (The Black Sorrows, Paul Kelly and many more), James Black on keyboards and guitar (Mondo Rock, The Black Sorrows, Paul Kelly) and Mark Ferrie on bass (The Models, Sacred Cowboys). Last Saturday's show was one of the better ones. The three girls backing Steve Harley were two of the Wolfgram sisters and one other. They have had their own CD's out and have backed many local and overseas artists over recent years. The closing duet on Saturday was a great version of 'The Sounds Of Silence' sung by a young Australian artist I have never heard or seen before called Emma Louise (she was very impressive) and some guy I didn't know either. Captain Beefheart, a compilation of material from 66-73, so far lowish fi but very watchable, I'm always amazed that people manage to track down stuff like this. RIP Don Van Vliet
