I liked that book too. Good storyteller. Maybe he should run for office! Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedy's did a long time ago and received quite a few votes.

 Re: What are you reading
Hello all, Deke Leonard has just published his third book, "The Twang Dynasty". I've odered a copy and can't wait for it to arrive. http://www.dekeleonard.com/writing.htmThose who have hung around here for a while will probably recall that I am a huge fan of his Deke's two books, and consider them to be the best books of their genre, even better than Ian's. Re: What are you reading
Thanks for the heads-up; I too am a huge fan of his two previous offerings, so it's good to hear number three is out.

 Re: What are you reading
The Ground is Burning - Samuel Black
Historic fiction based on the connected stories of Leonardo da Vinci, Cesare Borgia and Niccolo Machiavelli, and their path crossing in Italy 500 years ago. Told in the first person singular, but switching perspectives as the story builds up.
Rivetting stuff as Leonardo searches for artistic and scientific fulfilment, Borgia ruthlessly seeks to expand his powerbase in Italy (with the help of his dad, the Pope) and Machiavelli tries to improve his lot.

 Re: What are you reading
Got a coffee table book called "Everyone I Shot is Dead" by Deborah Chesher. She is a rock photo journalist who while looking at all her pics realized that everyone she had shot is dead. My wife was visiting friends in Florida, one of them being the wife of Mike Gibbins of Badfinger fame when she met Deborah. She asked if she had ever shot IH but alas to no avil she hadn't. Great book to pick up and look through

 Re: What are you reading
Interesting. I kind of lump him into the "60's drug crazed poets" society. along with Martin Sharp(tales of brave ulysses-Cream), Peter Brown(Cream), aqnd a lot of other lyricists from that period.
