Not really music related discussion, but actor Dennis Hopper has died. Complications related to prostrate cancer.
He appeared in some classic films and some not so classic as well.

Ride on, dear Dennis. This one really gets to me.

Although it definitely is music related, his use of rock in the soundtrack to Easy Riders not only further promoted the music, but also defined the film and the time. And it was his rock and roll approach to filmmaking and acting that defined him.

Ditto.

If anyone remembers Ian dedicating a song at the reunion to one of the 'Deadwood' writers, that writer was the music director for a film that starred Dennis Hopper.

I can do 'Six degrees of Ian Hunter' with just about anyone :)

That's what got him in the end... a different stroke. :?

The guy had a rough life... serious health issues and constant ridicule... his parents robbed him blind.

No wonder he was an angry man... RIP.

Rue McClanahan of The Golden Girls, one of the few sitcoms I ever watched, and much more, died of a stroke today. So sad, she was such an awesome actress, how could anyone not love her portrayal of a slut, she was perfect.

What's a slut? That was a great show. What a cast. Didn't Bea Arthur die a few years ago?

haha Rick, I think if you looked under slut in a dictionary there would be Rue at her best portraying Blanche. Yes, Bea died too, my 2'nd fav Golden Girl. Bea was "Maude", and Rue was I believe Barneys' wife in All in the Family, so they had some prior links.

I missed this last week -- Guitarist Tony Peluso died June 5 at age 60 of heart failure. He's the guy who played the great solo on the Carpenters' "Goodbye to Love" in, oh, 1972 or so.

Also, I don't believe Rue McClanahan played Barney's wife but she did appear in an "All in the Family" episode as the female half of a couple that wanted to wife-swap with Edith and Archie.
