All of the financial questions surrounding Manchester Utd and Liverpool make me proud to be a Leeds United fan, ironically enough.
Ken Bates was hated when he first went to Elland Road, but he did well to stop the rot, steady the ship, and turn it into a profit-making business!
About 5 million quid last tax year I believe.
Now all Leeds fans love Uncle Ken, and I for one hope the old bastard never sells out to a non-British consortium or individual, even if that means we will never scale the heights of glories past...

Dd - agree with you despite Bates being an odius tw*t - Utd not winning things and sinking a div (or 2) would get shot of the Johnny come latelys and day trippers who think football is a middle class game and was only invented by Sky in 1992
Cheaper seats for kids etc and OT could still have 45 -50 thousand attendances in a lower division

As good a way of putting it as any. If County had ever made the premier league, when we had a fairly good spell in the 90s, I'd be going to half the games or less now. Nowhere near as many as I do.
We still have a hard core that are fairly fanatical, but there's a difference between paying around £18 for away matches and £35 or £40.

As a brummy bluenose i can tell all the hammers fans out there not to get too excited about the arrival of Gold and Sullivan. What they'll do: Get the club on a sound footing with good business practices and strong management. It'll have to pay it's own way.
What they won't do: They WON"T do an abramovitch - they won't put their personal millions into the club to bring in expensive players. The club will only spend what it earns.
So - there will be no miracle with hammers in the top 4 next season....

Heard it said on R5 this afternoon that the Bobby Moore stand is to be renamed the Boobied Whore stand by the porn kings by the next home game.

 Re: west ham
Man U and Liverpool could do with a dose of that. It's an absolute tragedy what is being done to our best two clubs. The debt which they are carrying at the moment will cripple them for decades. The Glazers will screw hundred's of millions pounds out of United, and in future years the pot for transfers will be empty. Man U are bound for middle of the table mediocrity, and sadly it's too late already for their or Liverpool's supporters to do anything about it
I read somewhere that United's training ground is being transferred from the club to the Glazer's - what a travesty

I'm assuming that's some seriously heavy duty sarcasm.
I'll have another look when I sober up.

Anyway, about today's games.
County and Swindon top of the tree. County's new players looked good, but a bit unlucky. Ref crap, but penalty probably a reasonable decison. Looking forward to Carlisle saturday. You there Teach? I think we're having an early in the rugby club.
And Carlisle and Leeds tonight in the paint pot wotnot, and one of them bogeying t'uther.
And somewhere down the horizon I believe there were a couple of scrubby local-ish chav-tastic mobs haggling over the gnat's piss semi-something or the other. Couldn't care less about that one.

Dunno yet mate, probably not though.
Got out of the habit of going over the last couple of years. Used to call in at a mates bar for a couple when I went over but since he died I've only been a couple of times a season and not yet this time around.

Surprised no one has mentioned the managerial feat of Mr.Lambert.
On the opening day of the season takes Colchester to Norwich and his side win, scoring 7 goals.Shortly after takes over as manager of Norwich.
Last week takes Norwich to Colchester and they win, scoring 5.
Not a bad turnaround in a matter of months.
