Dedicated to news stories slightly out of the ordinary. Here's the first one:

The bit about that that makes me go "WTF?" is the husband quoted as "We're just grateful. We're grateful that things weren't worse and God just continues to provide for us in this situation." Wasn't it God [in his belief system] that "provided" his wife with the third degree burns in the first place?

Similar incidents on the Solway Firth between Engalnd and Scotland West Coast - ships were laden with phospher bombs from WWI and scuppered there many many years ago - now the cargo is breaking up and being washed on shore - youths going down to the beach to watch rocks explode in flame just think they have scored some top class acid.

I suspect your thread's going to run and run, Rick.

This one left me speechless.

It not only left me speechless but also frightened. Dealing with a dirty cop is bad enough and having to deal with a dirty company that protects a dirty rent-a-cop will be an even bigger nightmare.

Wasn't there a scene like that in one of the Austin Powers movies?

Here's another bit of ridiculousness:

A fine example of corporate f*ckwittery.
When your chief exec's defence of your ludicrous new company name features such utter blatherings as "It doesn’t mean a lot by itself, but if you turn the clock back, neither did Apple", then you know you're dealing with weapons-grade idiots. Does he think the fruit was named after a Beatles record company or Steve Jobs' enterprise?
Unsurprising to find out that the said new company name means "genitals" in Japanese - presumably as in "bollocks"...

Jelly,

I was invovled with a startup about a decade ago, and we spent weeks coming up with a name. We wound up using one that was not even a word - we figured that would eliminate the possibility of finding out later on that someone else was using it. When we went to register the trademark we found a half-dozen other companies were already using the word we had made up ...

So if there are already 2 flies in there, and another one goes in, but does not see them, who is at fault :!:
