Linda Chase of Jackson, Mich., is a big NASCAR fan, but she hates watching races alone.

Hates it so much that she has been watching races with longtime friend Charles Zigler — who died 18 months ago.

Police in Jackson found Zigler’s body after a 911 call last week. According to Yahoo! and the Jackson Citizen Patriot, Jackson officials believe Zigler died around Christmas of 2010 and estimate he was 67 or 68 years old.

Chase and Zigler had lived together for about 10 years, and Chase told the Jackson paper that Zigler “just fell asleep.” She said she kept him in his chair after he died, keeping him dressed and cleaned, and that his body did not stink. She said she talked to him and watched NASCAR races on television with him.

According to the Citizen Patriot, family members contacted police after not hearing from Zigler for a while.

Chase is also being investigated for cashing Zigler’s Social Security checks, telling the paper, “I’m probably going to prison.”

When family members tried to contact Zigler, Chase told them he was gone.

"It's not that I'm heartless,” she told the paper. “It's just that after so many bad things happen to you, I don't know. I didn't want to be alone. He was the only guy who was ever nice to me."

Jackson is located about 20 miles from Michigan International Speedway.

That's nothing Kevin every second week in glasgow 60,000 dead people turn up to watch a bunch of hapless clowns attempt to kick a ball......... Well brain dead anyway....does that count?

Brain dead counts when they cannot tell how hapless clowns can't kick a ball in front of them.

ROYAL OAK (WXYZ) - Bill Conway has been on a mission to locate his step-brother so that he can give his step-father’s ashes a proper farewell, but the urn went missing when his car was stolen.

The 1979 Buick Electra 225 Limited Edition was gone from the parking lot when Conway came out carrying groceries Friday from the Kroger on Woodward at 13 Mile.

“They don’t realize when you steal somebody’s life how far they reach into other people’s lives,” said Conway.

Inside the classic car’s trunk were Conway’s step-father’s ashes. He had been carrying the urn for a week as he tried to locate his step-brother.

“I’m angry and sad,” said Conway. “Angry that it’s gone, and sad that it’s a bad way for something to happen to one of your parents. That’s pretty low down.”

The car is similar to the one pictured above, but Conway describes the car’s exterior as having three shades of green. The interior is lime green crushed velvet. Anyone with information should contact police.

Reminded me about my friend CJ. Her parents divorced when she was 3 years old and her and her sister never knew their father. Ten years ago we were watching a movie when the phone rang and it was a lawyer handling her father's estate. She learned she was left a house in San Diego, his involvement in NASCAR, and also left a NASCAR racer and patents on the engine. She learned he was an engineer at JPL in Pasadena. During his spare time away from work he designed and built NASCARs.

A week later we went to LA to meet with the lawyer regarding her father's will. Surprise number one was that CJ and her sister found out they had a half-sister who was learned of her half siblings that day. All three women were left a house and other stuff. CJ got the house in San Diego, his NASCAR, and patents to a new engine he developed. We went to her house and it was a nightmare of a mess. We spent a week cleaning it up. While cleaning the kitchen, we opened a cabinet and there were two plastic bags filled with what looked like dirt from a vacuum cleaners, so she tossed them in the garbage.

It was maybe a month later we got a phone call from the lawyer wanting to know about her father's ashes. Her uncle was looking for them and couldn't find them. He explained they were in a cabinet along with her grandmother's ashes who had died ten years earlier. She explained how she found two bags of dirt in the cabinet and threw them in the garbage. It turns out her father died prior to latest NASCAR he father buil was never raced. He requested his ashes be placed in the trunk of the car. Since CJ threw the ashes in the garbage they put a picture of her father in the trunk.

As for the grandmother. She dies ten years earlier. A service was held up in San Mateo for her family up here. CJ was close to her grandmother, had no contract with her father at all, and no one talked about the cause of the estrangement. After the funeral she was cremated and her ashes sent to So CA for a second service. Her father's brother was to release the ashes after the service, but never did. When his brother died he put the ashes of their mother and his in the kitchen cabinet of his home. He never told anyone what was in the bags, had no tags or markings indicating what the contents were.

Great story. But you just can't be leaving dead people's ashes laying around the house or incidents like this will continue to happen.
