Re: What are you listening to? PART 5
..would that be the Sounds magazine readers who amazingly discovered that the best guitarist, best bassist and best drummer in the whole wide world all came from a small Surrey town about twenty miles from you, Ray?

Re: What are you listening to? PART 5
Saw them first supporting the finest band ever to walk the planet and liked their first album. Didn't like Pilgrimage and thought that Argus only had a couple of good tracks when it came out. Went back to it about 10 years ago and it just sits together really well, the tracks flow from one to the other perfectly. Actually think the CD is spoilt by the add ons, the one I've got has the Live from Memphis EP as Bonus tracks which is a brilliant live collection but still does nothing for the collection. Great listen as 2 seperate items but not for me as one.

My mate was raving about Argus today. I'll give it a go.

More Sabbath; Master of Reality followed by Paranoid.

Re: What are you listening to? PART 5
It might be better if you followed Paranoid with Reality

Re: What are you listening to? PART 5
I heard about the "legend" of Wishbone Ash for years and how they invented the dual guitar attack. During a slow music month in Randyland I sought out what most consider their career defining release, "Argus". When I read things like dual guitar attack, for some reason I have expectations of a certain energy level. I don't feel the energy from the music and vocals are pretty oatmeal. Don't get me wrong, there is some "nice" guitar work and interesting musical passages. A disc worthy of knowing about but not necessarily one you play much. Keep us posted on how "Argus" goes down in your world. np: The King Will Come/Wishbone Ash

Re: What are you listening to? PART 5
Randy - I feel the exact same about Wishbone Ash. No energy and I'd hardly consider their dual guitars an "attack." I saw them live in the early 70's and walked away less than impressed. But everyone has different tastes.

Re: What are you listening to? PART 5
Wishbone Ash were another band that always seemed to be on around 1969 / 1970 and they came acroos very well then. But after the first 2 albums they went downhill - not musically I guess but they just seemed to lose the initial bite they had at that point and became boring.
They never were an "energy " based band though.
