 Re: What are you reading
BS is definitely a guys band. Just had no idea that they'd been so successful. Thinking of how hard the guys in Mott worked it's unfair that they didn't do as well.

 Re: What are you reading
I have been a Michael Connelly fan from the begining. I had the good luck to be at the Mott show when his latest came out about 2-4 weeks earlier than in the USA so I purchased it and read it on the flight home

 Re: What are you reading
just checked what I now have. I did have a load of BS (all their earlier stuff and some of the later) albums and a couple of Ozzies - all on vinyl. I think I sold most of them on ebay during my vinyl cull of last few years. Checking the CDs - I just have a double compilation which actually seems to have all their best stuff on and thatis probably why I decided to take th emoney on the vinyls (the lesser , later vinyls didnt seel though - that says something) I still think that their first few albums were good and a lot tried to copy but did not necessarily bring it off. Re: What are you reading
If it wasn't for Bad Company I wouldn't have know about Mott, so they are good for something.

 Re: What are you reading
glitter band......listen to the band......still a great album, the harmonies are up there with the beach boys. Havent listened to this in years but the production is still pretty good, "makes you blind" is a great intrumental that gets me in the boogie mood. Best songs are "people like you, people like me" "watch the show" and the classic "where have you been". there are three songs about astronauts i love, "space oddity" and "rocket man", but where have you been is the best of the three.

Too true - that's why celtic's got none of it. Mick

Think it was you that put me onto him a few years ago. Definitely someone on here. Big thank you to whoever. Mick

 Re: What are you reading
Don't get me wrong - great band and I play them frequently. Just wish Rodgers would be a bit less of the big "I AM". Got to like anything with Mick Ralphs in. Mick

Since no one else is taking credit for it, I guess it was me. Harry thanks you too

 Re: What are you reading
Refer back to "guys band" quote. Don't you have any of the Dio stuff? Some of it's great, and the vocals are definitely better. Mick

 Re: What are you reading
Oh yeah, I was intrigued by the painter too, after reading the book with owls all over the show. Bought a brief history (brief because most of it's guesswork) with copies of most of Bosch's known artwork. Some seriously detailed weird shit in there. Here's a couple of starters: http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/bosch/http://www.abcgallery.com/B/bosch/bosch.htmlMick

 Re: What are you reading
I picked up one of his books as a freebie at work a couple or 3 years ago (Echo Park) and realised I'd read another of his books previously (Trunk Music ?) and both were pretty good. Since then I bought a box set of 10 books that were decent too. My books tend to be chosen more on price as opposed to writer but his books were worthwhile and I'll read more as and when I get them

 Re: What are you reading
Speaking of freebies found this book on the train last night 'The Basic Writings Of Existentialism' by Gordon Marino anyone read this book yet?, a bit disaponted so far as there are no pictures in it. I remember years ago Bowie being interviewed and he went on about 'Existentailism' and the writings of Friedrich Nietzsche it sounded very impressive, maybe when I read this book I too will sound impressive and I can add it to my Broons and Our Willie books in my library

 Re: What are you reading
Now reading T.E. Lawrence's Seven Pillarzzz of Wisdomzzzzzz. Sorry, keep dozing off here, this is more of a slog to get through than I thought it would be. Look, I know the guy lost his original manuscript in a train station in England, then something happened to his second draft, then he wrote the final from memory, but, my god, the guy remembers every friggin rock and lava flow from some godforsaken wadi in the Arabian desert, going on and on for pages and pages about them, and then spends two paragraphs talking about blowing up train tracks and depots. At least I can say I've read the damn thing.
