 Re: Upcoming shows ...
Roger Chapman at the Jazz Cafe on Monday night (5th) was belting fun. Still puts on a show, Geff Whitehorn is still a great guitarist, and since Steve Simpson wasn't available, we had the bonus of saxophonist Nick Pentelow instead. Some old Family stuff (Weaver's Answer, Burlesque, My Friend The Sun), some snatches of Streetwalkers (Toenail Draggin' and Daddy Rolling Stone made medley appearances) and plenty of Chappo solo stuff. Also a cracking version of Blind Willie McTell as the second encore. And a well-received putdown of some of those irritating gits who go to a gig and then want to have a bloody conversation during the show: "Are you going to f'king shut up down there? Why don't you go outside and have a fight or do something else more interesting. Or buy a T-shirt. Or a kebab?" Much cheering and laughter ensued. (Yes, I appreciate that the phrase "some snatches of Streetwalkers" is open to misinterpretation )

Yeah - I saw Roger about 4 years ago. Not sure but I think he had Ian Gibbons (IH's old keyboards pal) with him.

Hello all,
The Darkness is coming to Boston in February, and tickets go on sale tomorrow. All I remember is the over the top video for "I Believe In A Thing Called Love", and that the lead singer has the coolest first name ever. Are they worrth seeing?

 Re: Upcoming shows ...
Highly recommended for our English and American message boarders - an opportunity to see Australia's best songwriter, Paul Kelly, in acoustic mode early next year. He has written lots of beautiful, poignant and insightful songs over the years and the acoustic shows present a great cross-section from his career. See link below. http://www.paulkelly.com.au/index.php?p ... ws+-+ToursAnd a timely clip of a Christmas themed song which has become one of his classics. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTm1iNbGuMc

 Re: Upcoming shows ...
Besides a cool name he seems to have the same fashion sense as Nigel Benjamen. That's a must see!

 Re: Upcoming shows ...
A friend told me about a finnish group she and her boyfriend are into. Finntroll is their name.I looked them up and they sounded pretty cool. Folk metal is the perfect description too. I'll bet you like the show. What are the other bands on the bill? Here's a Finntroll sample. Cool outfits...primitive glam? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGywo81G6lk

 Re: Upcoming shows ...
thanks Rick. In fact from what I understand Finntroll has some connection to Korpiklaani, I believe some swapped members. I am not familiar with either. I had tickets from a show that snowed out on my birthday for a band that I have connections with, Polkadot Cadaver, who were supporting Wednesday 13. Pdot is now supporting this show and the tickets are being permitted for exchange. I have no clue to who all is on the bill for the night. Thanks for the link, will check it out!

 Re: Upcoming shows ...
I need to get my reading glasses sorted. When I first read this i thought it was about finished fooked metal and it reminded me of the last time i saw Deep Purple.

 Re: Upcoming shows ...
On January 6th I will be attending the First Church of the Sarcred Silversexual's David Bowie 65th Birthday Bash. In November this Bowie cover band (with my son on lead guitar) set attendance records at Kimo's in SF and they're expecting another overflow crowd for this performance. http://www.vitusoakland.com/http://www.facebook.com/pages/First-Chu ... 3827623382
