 Re: obituaries
Very sad news, I bought a three CD box set of her Chess singles a few years ago. A great collection and great value (see link below). On Amazon.com it's a fair bit dearer at about $27. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Very-Best-Etta- ... 917&sr=8-1

 Re: obituaries
Yes, that three CD set is a cracking collection, isn't it? And a mild irony that she died the day after Johnny Otis, who discovered her.

 Re: obituaries
Two greats gone in the same week. I don't think people know how important Johnny Otis was in the history of rock music. He was instrumental in the development of rhythm & blues, which directly led to rock 'n roll, and he got so many great singers started. I heard a tribute to him on NPR radio today and they mentioned his "rhythm & blues" review tours of the late 1940's set the pattern for many of the rock 'n roll package tours of the 1950's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkPFAJrO ... re=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdU8PkEi-eg

 Re: obituaries
Great video, Justin. They were a local band for me, but ahead of their time and influential in the history of rock. Like MTH!
