After reading some of the stuff on here, and reviews elsewhere, I wasn't looking forward to this. I'd put off buying it, after Lou's last couple of half-arsed offerings, and eventually went for it when the price dropped to under £4. But it's not bad at all, once you get over the fact that it's "different". If you're looking for Transformer give it a miss. First impressions are three or four good songs and a couple that might be growers. Some that will forever remain filler at best. Feels a little overblown, and would come in as a much stronger album if it was trimmed by around 25 minutes to a single CD lasting an hour. But all in all, enough good stuff to be playing it again tonight (Brandenburg Gate, Iced Honey, Junior Dad) and see if the growers grow. Mick _________________ Here's to Mulberry Jane |
