On a very wet day in Wales I have been listening to:

Escape Artist by Garland Jeffreys (a fantastic album which includes contributions from Linton Kwesi Johnson, Roy Bitten, Danny Federici and Dennis Bovell. [i]Christine[i]] is a wonderful song).;

The Heat by Jesse Malin ([i]Swinging Man[i]; [i]About You[i]and [i]Block Island[i] are outstanding tracks

Real Animal by Alejandro Escovedo

Some new ones already purchased locally in recent weeks:

The Lil' Band O' Gold - Plays Fats. Great selection of covers of Fats Domino songs - including guest spots by Robert Plant, Lucinda Williams, Jimmy Barnes and Tim Rogers from You Am I.

Levon Helm - Take Me To The River 19780-1982. Compilation of two of his earlier solo albums, one of which ironically was produced by Donald 'Duck' Dunn.

Justin Townes Earle - Nothing's Gonna Change The Way You Feel About Me Now. More a Memphis soul sound on this one. As with his last a bit short on playing time which just leaves you wanting more.

Vika & Linda - Live 2011. The two half-Australian / half Tongan sisters singing a few of their own songs, a few gospel covers and a beautiful version of Springsteen's 'If I Should Fall Behind'.

And I am looking forward to my latest orders from Amazon UK and USA of the following which are en-route as we speak:

Levon Helm - Ramble At The Ryman. Both the live CD and the live DVD.

It's pretty hard to watch the attached clip without a tear in your eye and a chill in your spine. His passion and spirit just shine through.

I so regret not being able to make it over to the US east coast late last year for the Ian Hunter shows in New York. Because I would have gone and seen one of Levon's Ramble shows in his barn while I was over there as well.

Alejandro Escovedo - Big Station.
Chuck Prophet - Temple Beautiful. Another act I've got interested in due to recommendations on this site.
Chuck Prophet - Let Freedom Ring. As above.
Chuck Prophet - Soap And Water. As above.
The Nerves - One Way Ticket. Compilation from this seminal power-pop / rock act featuring Peter Case, Paul Collins and Jack Lee and the original version of 'Hanging On The Telephone'.
Old Crow Medicine Show - Carry Me Back. Latest CD from this fantastic contemporary bluegrass band.
Free - Wishing Well. The Collection. Great value 2CD compilation and a long overdue purchase.
Various Artists - Louisiana Sounds 1953 - 1960. Double CD compilation of Louisiana music from the 50's and 60's.

And three concert DVD's:

Bryan Ferry - The Bete Noire Tour.
Sparks - Live In London.
Sparks - Lil' Beethoven. Live In Stockholm.

That lot should keep me going for a month or two until Mr. Hunter's new release. :) :)

Jamaih on fire...the kid is 12 years old. A friend of mine saw him at the Montreal jazz festival and said he blew everyone away with his performance. Here's some clips of the next (?) sensation. Bass player is 10! Little kids, big talent.

not sure where the old "just purchased" subject went to, so as I will at some time be listening ......

I had a meeting in the city today and I just happened to go past Fopp on the way back (only 2 trains out of my way  )

Picked up The Best Of The Only Ones (Another Girl Another Planet) and Professor Longhair - Longhair Boogie (very best of) for £3 each plus a nice almost A4 sized book all about the Immediate record label for £4.
