Manassas - The Lost Broadcasts. 68 minutes of an utterly fabulous band recording for Beat Club in Germany in 1972.

Since the Hop Farm festival my 9 year old son has been taking a much greater interest in IH so we have been watching IH at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, IH and Mick Ronson Live at Rockpalast, IH and the Rant Band Just Another Night Live at the Astoria, London and Strings Attached, Sentrum Scene Oslo.
Love the version of 23A Swan Hill on Strings Attached. Happy memories of those two gigs in January 2002. Oslo was very, very cold but the people were very warm and friendly. Some good secondhand record shops where I picked up some IH and MTH singles. As I left Sentrum Scene on the second night it was snowing; it added another layer of beauty on what had been a beautiful musical experience.

Hello all,

I get one of the 50 or so stations that carry Live From Darryl's House on television. It's a great show, and every once in a while we get to see someone with an Ian Hunter connection in the house band, such as Micky Curry, Steve Holley, or Mark Rivera. It's almost always catching.

Really? I never considered the Baker-Gurvitz Army a "great band."

I was actually a much bigger fan of Three Man Army than the subsequent Baker Gurvitz Army. And truth be told I never expected that distinction would ever come up in conversation :)

Baker Gurvitz Army put out 3 solid albums. The 2nd one, elysian encounter was excellent,as good as any rock album of the period. I still can't figure out why they never cracked the states. The live stuff being released lately shows how good they were live. Should have been a contender!

Oh well, the end credits song from the film "rango" is cool, as is the video. Enjoy:

It's a business thing - put up a sign saying the Baker Gurvitz Army are coming to this Town and some places would mobilize the National Guard.

Cracking the states (or the UK) is about marketing, not being good.
As proven by some of the shite that successfully manages the cracking.

Now lay off the excellent Baker-Gurvitz Army or we'll send to troops to California.

To a lesser degree in the 70s.

As I recall, the Baker Gurvitz Army received plenty of promotion in the states, thanks to the presence of ex-Creamer Ginger Baker. Even loads of promotion couldn't elevate what is ultimately a mediocre product.

I don't remember BGA getting much publicity in the states. Thye never did a tour in spite of charting(top 100). Somebody droppped the ball on that one.
And there were plenty of mediocre bands touring the US back then. I had to sit through a lot of them!
